Pinky Promise Photography: Blog en-us (C) Pinky Promise Photography (Pinky Promise Photography) Wed, 14 Sep 2016 09:03:00 GMT Wed, 14 Sep 2016 09:03:00 GMT Pinky Promise Photography: Blog 120 80 A Dream of a Tea Party Every little girl has fantastical dreams that they create with their infinite imaginations. Dreams of faraway castles and hidden worlds under the vast expanse of the ocean. Dreams of unicorns, dragons, and knights in shining armor. Dreams of worlds that exist only to them.

This time to create a special day for a very loved little girl grand plans were drawn to create a dream of a tea party.

The best florist in the kingdom, A Different Bloom, selected the best flowers from her gardens to create wondrous bouquets. This was not enough for the beautiful little girl so she created an eye-catching waterfall of roses that seemed to float in the air at The Bake Shoppe and Cafe.

Greenbriar Inn Mountainside Wedding in Colorado: Katie and Nate Katie and Nate's wedding will always be different from the rest for Pinky Promise Photography. For one, it was in the most stunning location, Boulder Colorado! Secondly, they asked their close friends and our very own Cristina Clark and her husband Beau Clark to marry them! So when you get to the ceremony photos, you will see one of the owners of Pinky Promise Photography!

I was also asked to do the hair for the bridal party! We are a one stop shop LOL!

Among the vast mountainside at a quaint venue with over a hundred guests from around the world, Katie and Nate were married.  The celebration was full of joy and laughter and proceeded into the late evening with dance music, toasts from loved ones and a sparkler exit.  This joyous day was truly amazing to be a part of and we couldn't be happier for the newlyweds!

Little Girl's Summer Mini I think it's safe to say shooting inside during a summer month in Texas was a great idea! Made for a fun background! These were taken at the "Houston Studio Rental" in Downtown Houston.

This little girl happens to be my muse, I absolutely love photographing her! She's come a long ways with being comfortable in front of the camera. For this shoot her mother just turned on some music and she got to dancing for her camera! It made it easy to get real smiles.

Misty Mountain Wedding, Lori and Jeff Having the pleasure to fly to a state Ive never been to, to photograph a very good friend of mine's engagement session and wedding, left my heart full and head spinning. The whole trip wasn't nearly long enough. The gorgeous mountain's made for a stunning view in every direction. Lori and Jeff had made sure to cover every detail with a meaningful personal hippie touch!
Here's a few words from the bride herself.
"Like every other day of our lives together our wedding day was definitely an eventful one.  We knew that choosing an outdoor wedding would have its pros and cons but in the end we were super happy with how everyone helped make it all come together, thunderstorms and all.   We called them all the bride tribe because thats what we all are...a tribe.  Everyone brought their talents together for many weekends leading up to the big day and I just cant thank them enough for the time and love they put into everything.    Our family friend Karen has always been amazing with flowers so I asked her to help us design and decorate the arbor, and bouquets.  She did an amazing job, like i knew she would.  I also had her make the men's boutonniere's out of my fiance's mothers Chicken and Hen plant that was passed on to me by his brother.  I also had mini photo frames of his parents on their wedding day attached to his, his sons, his brothers boutonniere's and his daughters bouquet & a few pieces of that plant were also in my bouquet...Just gorgeous and she kept them rooted so they could be replanted by our wedding party if they chose to do so.
The food was amazing, the music was exactly what we wanted. The only thing we wish we could change was to get married in the morning so we could have spent more time laughing and dancing with our friends and family."-Lori

Family Mini Sessions at McGovern Centennial Park Family Mini Shoots are a short and sweet 30 minutes for those who don't have the time in their schedule for a full hour. They are done twice a year at set locations such as the location in these photos; McGovern Centennial Park.

This spring mini with the Eager ( First Four Photos) and Crouch ( Last Five Photos) families was on a fairly hot and sunny day as is typical for Texas before we even get tired of the "cold" winters. Despite the stereotypical weather the two families still brought out their beautiful smiles and managed to have fun. It made the heat a thing of the past.

Phoenix's Vintage Birthday Shoot in Houston, Texas This little guy welcomed me with hugs and a Lolly Pop! It was a sign of what's to be one of my funnest 2 year old shoot! He was a ball of fun!! His mother (new to Texas) searched for a photographer that shot with a vintage feel, she had a vision that came out beautifully! Every detail was created by his creative mom, she hand made his Pinata, painted the cactus on his shirt, and stitched on the patches (found on Etsy) on to his coverall's. She is a dream client, and we can't wait to work with her again!

Misty Mountain Engagement Session in Virginia: Lori & Jeff Lori and Jeff are 1 of my favorite couples. You know when you see a couple that just instantly get each other, loving one another comes effortlessly. When I was photographing them, I didn't have to say much to them, it was so easy for them to be affectionate with each other (even with the camera snapping away). They are a rare love. It was an honor to be asked to photograph their Engagement and Wedding.

These were taken a day before their wedding at Misty Mountain in Virginia. The mountains were the perfect background to their photos. Their VW bus fit perfectly with their hippie themed engagement photos.

McGovern Centennial Gardens Engagement Session in Houston, Texas: Jessie & Jason Despite all the rain we've been having, the Texas sun shined brightly and made for some dreamy photos for Jessie and Jason.  The couple did their research when it came to locations and they decided on the perfect spot for their engagement shoot!  We got a nice mix of spring time florals and dessert oasis.   Jessie & Jason are SO sweet and SO adorable together!  We had such a fun time trekking the McGovern Centennial Gardens - even climbing to the top of the mound to get some scenic overview shots!  The couple is so fun and easy-going, then didn't mind when I asked them to lay in the grass and have my sweaty self hover over them for what came out to be my FAVORITE shot of the session (last picture!).  Jessie and Jason are getting married in Mexico this Fall and we couldn't be happier for them!

Bohemian Boudoir Session with Singer-Songwriter Summer Ashly From the moment Summer contacted us saying she wanted to do a boho boudoir shoot with her guitar, I was so excited to meet her.  We've done several styles of boudoir sessions but never one that involved a guitar - and it was even cooler when I found out she was a singer and songwriter with music on iTunes - which I made her listen to while she had her makeup done by the amazing Morgan Horres of Lady Paint Makeup Artistry and hair by the fabulous co-owner of PPP Crystal Ybarra!  Her voice and writing ability is incredible - everyone should check her out on iTunes, you won't be disappointed!

After hearing Summer's story, I knew I wanted to blog her session and was delighted when she approved!  Here's her account on why she decided to take boudoir pictures and why she wants to share her experience:

Sometimes events in life happen that cause you to question pieces of who you are. Not only in an internal sense, but what the exterior is reflecting. Well, my life event happened and I needed a reminder of where I was at that very moment. I needed photos that I could look back on and remember the reason behind them and the emotion that launched me into getting them. Everything from the photo session to the end result was completely empowering . Not only was I surrounded by other powerful and empowering women, who have pursued their own dreams...I was reminded that everyone should celebrate their body in one way or another. The level of comfort that I had surpassed even regular photo sessions (in which much more clothes were included). I walked away from it excited to see the finished product and felt like everyone woman at one time or another needed to experience that! The photos far exceeded any expectation I ever had. So much that I utilized one of the photos for an upcoming album. As an artist / singer songwriter I am thrusted into a business where I am given a small platform in which I can talk to people and encourage and tell my stories through my songs. I also want to incorporate the importance of self worth and encouragement that I feel is a necessary reminder. These photos have truly allowed me to do exactly that, I can look back on these photos for years to come and say, "DAMN! I'm so glad I did that."

Summer Ashly has a show this Saturday, May 21st at 9pm at Game On Sports Bar in Conroe, Texas. Fans can expect Summer to be her typical goofy self but the band has a few surprises up their sleeve and new merchandise that they are excited to share! They will be playing their new single "Whiskey & Ambien" which has been a huge success. And Pinky Promise was so flattered when she asked for an image from her boudoir session be featured as the album art for the single on iTunes! Summer did say that unfortunately she won't be donning the same attire as the boudoir session at the show on Saturday since many have asked (Lol!) but you can check out her stunning pictures here. Leave Summer Ashly and Pinky Promise Photography some love in the comments <3 We're so proud of her enormous success and are excited to call Summer a friend!

Romantic Chic Wedding in Houston, Texas: Fredrich Wedding Brooke and Alex are some of the kindest people we have ever met.  Both are quite shy but we loved watching the utter excitement on their faces as their big day was coming together. Inside a stunning garden home in The Woodlands, the bride and her bridesmaids drank champagne and laughed together while makeup artist Lizzie Moran Howard did her magic.  The groom just a room away, nervously got dressed and awaited his beautiful bride with the company of the bride's parents Debbie and Sparky Gullo.  Christina Landrum and Jennifer Gregory of Pomp & Circumstance Events whisked around the house making sure every detail was perfect.  And every detail was perfect for sure. Fresh white flower arrangements by Maxit Flower Design and candles painted both fireplaces in the home. The smell of fresh roses enveloped your senses.  The sparkling blue pool outside glimmered with the Texas sun and crisp white roses. Slowly guests arrived for the standing room only ceremony that took place in the wine room.  Brooke, wearing the stunning Cheyenne Gown by Romantique, was escorted by her father and walked down the aisle to the beautiful guitar melody played by of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" played by the acoustic guitarist of Avalon Music.

When looking back at her wedding, Brooke said "I think me and Alex are both so happy we had an intimate ceremony and then a larger celebration following.  It was all so beautiful but most importantly, it was fun day that was truly about us as a couple."  Kisses, champagne toasts and cheers later, the newlyweds took an opportunity to take photographs around the gardens and took pictures with a fully restored '58 Chevrolet Corvette!  The evening continued at The Woodlands Resort where the outstanding team of Pomp & Circumstance Events, DJU Productions and Maxit Floral Design transformed the once ballroom into a magical garden.  DJ Cory Bean introduced Brooke and Alex to the beat of Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love". Music and dancing lasted until the very last minute. As a send off, the couple decided on released the cutest LED balloons that lit up the sky in celebration!

We can't describe enough how amazing this wedding was to see!  Wedding coordinator Christina Landrum said it best "There are a thousand words I could say about the wedding and Brooke.  She is truly a dream and so sweet."

The Carriage House Texas Wedding: The Doucettes Connie and Doug are truly a beautiful example of a couple in love. The way their eyes lit up when seeing each other was so fun to watch and we couldn't have been happier to be part of their gorgeous wedding day!  The newlyweds were blessed with perfect Texas weather and a group of loving, fun and proud friends and family!  Their wedding took place at the stunning The Carriage House - as usual, we can't say enough good things about the folks over at The Carriage House - everything looked beautiful and they are so nice!  Connie and Doug decorated the venue with gorgeous yellow and white wild flowers.  The dessert buffet and s'mores station (Yes, we said s'mores station!  How fun!?) were a huge hit and so adorable!  We couldn't get enough of all the fun and personal details they incorporated!  Including a fun chalkboard of their dating timeline :)  Check out the details below for yourself and leave us some love in the comments! <3

Concordia Lutheran High School Senior Session at Justamere Stables: Katrina When thinking back to the day of this shoot, I remember the beautiful weather, the music that was playing, and the many conversations we had during it. The stories about the horses, the direction Katrina is planning to go after she graduates from high school and she had also shared with me that she has a love for photography also. But the part that stuck with me is how Katrina and her mom felt like long lost friends, we laughed a lot during her shoot. Being a photographer, its sometimes hard to get a complete stranger to feel comfortable in front of the camera, let alone feel silly!  I felt like she did, even the horses did! Such sweet hearts!! It for sure goes into my records of one of my absolute favorite shoots.

Welcome to my office I was told that I should blog my office, show our clients WHERE we do what we do. So here it is:

When you look at this office, you probably think, wow someones organized! The funny part is i'm the one that isn't, but Cristina (Co Owner) is. For example, If you write us an email, Cristina will answer it, (quickly I might add) she's very detailed with everything, makes notes on the calendar.... She's on top of it all. I on the other hand, am not, I can come up with fun shoots, dream it all up! The creative one, most would say... I'm horrible at writing, sometimes speaking HAHA!

There is SO much more than just taking pictures for a photography business. Yes booking clients, emailing, scouting locations, helping with clothing ideas, and booking the hair and make up appointments, doing a photo shoot, making people smile is the norm. Never did I think I would be blogging, working on the website, helping with the rebranding, keeping up with social media, meeting complete strangers for coffee, keeping up with finances, doing our business tax... Well I do have to say, I'm so thankful that I don't have to do the finances or taxes...

I wanted my office to look clean and open, fresh, organized, and not cluttered.

Many many hours have been spent in this chair!  I never would have thought, back when I was 14 years old, when my dad built me a desk with shelves, that I would have it, and rely on it daily for my business. I have to say Im pretty lucky to have such handy men around me to this day. My husband has learned a thing or two from my dad. Most of my office are things they have made for me. I recently adding another coat of white paint to it, it looks brand new!  One of our sweetest Brides, gave Cristina and I a book about gratitude. It meant a lot to both of us. After starting a collection of vintage cameras, I had told my husband that some floating shelves would be a great place to showcase them off and also keep them safe from being knocked over. He accepted the challenge and made 3!

So having a father that owns a local cabinet shop (Cabinets and More), with a couple free haircuts and a lot of hugs, I sometimes can convince him to build me something pretty. A few years back when I was booth renting, I had ran into many issues about storing products, hot irons, round brushes and clippers. So with his help, we were able to come up with this one of a kind cabinet on wheels. Measured perfectly to even the tallest bottle of hairspray! I wouldn't change a thing about it! Having 11 years in the hair industry, had worked in different salons, to now having my very own station in my house, it gives me the freedom to work when I want, whatever time I would like, as well as take as little or as many clients as I want to in a day. The flexibly works perfectly with co-owning PPP. As well as being able to style the clients hair at anytime. My boss is so cool ;)  I often have makeup artist over, glamming up our clients for a shoot. So having a High chair for the clients to sit in, so the makeup artist are hurting their backs, it comes in handy!

The Camera. The Computer.

Thanks for coming over and taking a look into my life :)

ThompsonFamily When my friend asked me to take her family pictures, I was like, YES of course... and ABOUT TIME WOMEN! Can you believe they have never had family pictures taken? It always shocking me when someone says that. Well NOW they do! But in about 8 months they will need to take a new one, because Leah is expecting a sweet little baby! Congratulations Leah and Jeramy!

5226 Elm Street in Houston, Texas: Krisa & Niki Wedding From the moment I met Niki and Krisa, I was super excited to photograph their wedding. It was obvious right off the bat the love these two had between each other and their energy and enthusiasm about their big day was exciting! Additionally, it was neat getting to photograph a fellow Spring High School grad! Krisa was a senior when Crystal and I were freshmen at SHS - talk about a small world!

The big wedding day arrived and we ran into a little rain - but that wasn't a problem because they say if it rains on your wedding day, it's extra lucky! Krisa and Niki looked STUNNING in their wedding attire and they were rocking some fun sparkly shoes. 5226 Elm is an artistic venue with tons of details and beautiful architecture. The staff was incredibly nice and the details that Niki and Krisa chose for their wedding went perfectly well with the colorful vibe of the place. Their wedding rings are some of the coolest rings I've seen and worked perfectly well with the purple, green and cream of the flowers. To top if off, they had an awesome live band who kept everyone dancing all night long! Take a moment to check out Niki and Krisa's wedding details below and leave us some love in the comments!

The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center, Texas Wedding: The O'Neill's So a quick back story on the bride Holly: she isn't just one of our brides, I have personally known her for years. Before doing photography full time, I was a hair stylist at a salon for 11 years. She, along with her mother and sister were my clients. So when she asked me if Pinky Promise could photograph her wedding, I was honored, and well excited to know that I would be spending the day with her on her very very special day! She asked me to also style hers, her mom and sister's hair for the wedding. It was a bonus! They are such a sweet and caring family, Sean, Holly's husband fits right in. Such a heart of gold. They truly have met their soul mates. - Crystal

On July 11th, 2015 Holly and Sean got married at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Houston Texas. Followed by a lovely reception at The Woodlands Resort. With a great DJ, they had everyone out on the dance floor dancing all night! It was a memorable evening!

We thank you again Holly and Sean for choosing us to be a part of your special day!

Houston Oaks Family Sports Retreat, Texas Wedding: The Clark's Not only are Emma and Stephen a gorgeous couple, they are utterly sweet and fun people and we couldn't have been happier photographing their beautiful wedding at the Houston Oaks Family Sports Retreat.  Emma and Stephen currently live in Columbus, Ohio but they decided to have their wedding at one of the most stunning wedding venues in the Houston area.  Houston Oaks grounds are covered in large oak trees and glistening lakes.  The staff there is phenomenal - every event Pinky Promise Photography has photographed there has gone smoothly and we love their coordinators!

When we asked why Emma and Stephen chose PPP to photograph their wedding, they told us because they love the fun and candid style of photography we do. Well, Emma and Stephen, you made our job easy! Not only were you both fun but your family and guests know how to have a good time! We couldn't get enough of the fun dancing at the reception so everyone will need to check those out below! The choice of lavender, white and green complimented the venue perfectly! If you're into a simple, yet elegant style, you'll have to check out the choices these newlyweds picked for their stunning wedding.

Bernhardt Winery, Texas Wedding- Koenig Wedding  James & Danyell had an intimate wedding at Bernhardt Winery. With the view of vines growing grapes and the smell of the rain, it made for a relaxing laid back wedding. I love that they picked a winery to get married at.

I've known Danyell for years now, I worked with her at a salon and she's always been such a friendly, caring, sweet hearted person. Witnessing her wedding day meant a lot to me. They are so in love and it's beautiful! She's always known she wanted to marry him.
